Effective Date: 01/01/2012
GiftedPath collects two types of information: personal information that users knowingly disclose to GiftedPath, and website-use information automatically generated by users as they interact with the site. We will retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you wish to cancel your account or request that we no longer use your information to provide you services contact us at gpsupport@GiftedPath.com. We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
When users sign up for GiftedPath, they are asked to provide profile information, such as name, email address, preferences, and other similar information.
GiftedPath also collects certain financial information, including PayPal account information. GiftedPath may also require users to provide additional information to help verify identity or address or manage risk, such as date of birth, social security number, driver’s license number, or other information. GiftedPath may also obtain information about users from third parties such as the Social Security Administration or identity verification services.
GiftedPath collects certain information from users’ browsers using small data files called “cookies.” GiftedPath uses session ID cookies to confirm that users are logged in. This type of cookie helps GiftedPath recognize a user if he or she visits multiple pages on our site during the same session, so that we do not need to require a password to access each page. These cookies terminate once the user closes the browser. By default, we use a persistent cookie that stores your login ID (but not your password) to make it easier for you to login when you come back to GiftedPath. We encode our cookies so that only we can interpret the information stored in them. Users can remove or block this cookie using the settings in your browser if you want to disable the feature. We do link the information we store in cookies to user accounts.
As is true of most Web sites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data.
We use this information, which does not identify individual users, to analyze trends, to administer the site, to track users’ movements around the site and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. We do link this automatically-collected data to personally identifiable information. IP addresses are tied to personally identifiable information to combat fraud and unauthorized access.
Clear Gifs (web Beacons/Web Bugs)
We employ a software technology called clear gifs (a.k.a. Web Beacons/Web Bugs), that help us better manage content on our site by informing us what content is effective. Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of Web users. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on a user’s computer hard drive, clear gifs are embedded invisibly on Web pages and are about the size of the period at the end of this sentence. We tie the information gathered by clear gifs to our customers’ personally identifiable information.
We use clear gifs in our HTML-based emails to let us know which emails have been opened by recipients. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of certain communications and the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns. If you would like to opt-out of these emails, please click on the unsubscribe link in the email. GiftedPath also stores transaction history and user relationships/interactions. We collect this information so that we can provide users with a meaningful service to our users. In most cases, we retain it so that, for instance, users can review transaction histories.
When a user chooses to use our invitation service to tell a friend about GiftedPath, we collect information needed to send the invitations, such as an email address. GiftedPath will send email an email invitation in the user’s name inviting him his or her friend to sign up for the siteGiftedPath stores this information to send one reminder, and to track the success of our referral program.
GiftedPath may collect additional information in other ways not specifically described here. For example, we may collect information related to interactions with customer service or responses from surveys or other feedback tools.
